In today's world of ever changing technology, nearly everything is connected to the cloud. Our informational science students are learning how to build monitoring and control systems for the greenhouse to monitor real-time data and conditions. Remote access to this information allows data collection from anywhere at anytime via the internet.

Realtime GraphingThingSpeak allows us to get data from our "thing", in this case, a temperature or humidity probe, in real-time.
Data collected can then be graphed and analyzed for scientific purposes. |
Realtime AlertingTwitter allows us to get alerts from our "thing", in this case, when a reading reaches a threshold that would concern us.
With up to the minute alerts, we can react quickly to adverse conditions in our greenhouse to ensure optimal growing conditions. |
Remote ControlRemote control of functions within the greenhouse allow user intervention of automated systems without having to be there.
Maybe we need to water the plants or turn on the fans. Maybe we forgot to turn off the lights. Now we can at the touch of a button from afar. |
